Aetna began testing and production use of the new ASC X12 5010 transaction version.
Aetna will continue to support both versions - 4010A1 and 5010.
We are working with our trading partners to complete 5010 testing and achieve 5010 compliance by 4th quarter 2011.
As of this date Aetna plans to discontinue use and acceptance of the previous ASC X12 version 4010A1 in compliance with the HIPAA Transaction regulations. Only the updated 5010 ASC X12 version standard will be accepted after this date.
Aetna will begin targeted ICD-10 testing. Please note that testing will likely be conducted through EDI and/or clearinghouse vendors. Please contact your vendor or clearinghouse prior to this date to find out if they will participate in ICD-10 testing.
This is the CMS-mandated ICD-10 compliance date. All covered entities should be prepared to use only ICD-10 codes for dates of service on or after October 1, 2013.
